Positive Energy Outdoors is getting ready for the 2017/18 school year with our popular after-school outdoor education program, Adventure Club.
Our Adventure Club Instructors work as part of a small team to operate a comprehensive outdoor education program that includes after school programs and day camps that incorporate a variety of outdoor education activities.
Adventure Club activities take place at Winterquist Elementary School (2 E Highway 61, Esko, MN 55733). Outdoor education activities take place at PEO’s base 15 miles north of Duluth, and at locations in Duluth, Grand Marais and on the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Adventure Club Part Time Instructors work as a team to provide facilitation for participants from diverse backgrounds, serving children in grades 1-6. Positive Energy Outdoors’ outdoor education programs combine physical skill building, social and emotional learning and time in nature, using the Active-Participatory Approach, a youth-focused framework of best practice methods and principles developed by the High Scope Foundation and the David P. Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality. Positive Energy Outdoors uses the Active-Participatory Approach to engage children as leaders within our programming, with a focus on continuous quality improvement and social-emotional skill development.
As a Positive Energy Outdoors Adventure Club Part Time Instructor, you will have the opportunity to increase your skills as an outdoor educator and youth worker, gaining experience that promotes your professional and personal development. For this position, we are looking for self-motivated individuals with a desire to develop their skills and abilities through practice, observation and reflective dialogue.
